Laser eye surgery for astigmatism correction

Further to the other thread regarding laser eye surgery, I’d like to focus (pun intended) on corrective laser treatment for a mild astigmatism.

Has anyone had it done? What was it like, how was the recovery and most importantly, did it work?

My vision isn’t bad by any means... but the very fact that it’s my right eye is incredibly irksome.

1) My vision isn’t as good as it could and should be.
2) Reading small print or similar (such as a tape measure) in poor light is increasingly difficult.
3) Aquisition when using optics (binoculars, scopes etc.) is difficult.
4) Shooting with open sights is becoming very hard indeed.
5) I’m not old enough to be blind!

I don’t want to go down the glasses route if laser treatment is effective and minimally disruptive. I’ve had two hospital jobs this year- I may as well go for the hat trick!

Any experiences would be most welcome.

TIA

I had lasik in 2014, blooming marvellous, but I didn't have astigmatism, but I have a mate who did and as far as I am aware sorted it.

I went with optical express (so did my mate) they'll try and push a "deal" but the actual procedure is OK.

I had severe astigmatism from teen years and always wore glasses or contact lenses. I never looked into laser surgery, one reason being that my prescription kept changing so any 'corrective treatment ' would soon have been out of date.

Can't you wear contacts?

PS the 'reading in small print... low light' is probably not astigmatism but the a ageing process, likely to get worse and a different issue entirely !

Lots worst off after some treatments.
Is not suitable as said above for some.
New procedure is where the eye lens is cut out and a fixed strength lens is replaced and then glasses are used to correct afterwards.
Ie.new lens is near or far and glasses adjust.
As far as I know there is no way to get the natural compensation or distance adjust lens yet ?
Your optician will advise.

I asked my doctor about laser treatment, he replied "I can't name one doctor who would let a laser near their eyes"

A friends sister had it done private in Leeds, she doesn't need glasses for driving or distance sight, but still does for reading or sewing.
