Claydon 3.45 SR Drill HP requirement

Looking at potentially Mzuri Zip till or 2nd hand Claydon 3.45 SR, happy with the Mzuri HP (3m) but would an 818 @ 180hp manage the Claydon or would it be a struggle, mainly light land but looking across the entire range of soil types.

I have 200 on a 4 M hybrid. I can get it up to 16 k on light land which is fun but can be down to 8k on heavy stuff. I recon you want to be able to pull it at 12 k to get a good shatter off the front tine in heavy land ideally. I often wish I has a bit more power.

They are heavy bits of kit so you need a decent front weight as well.

I had 210 on 4.8 v drill. Changed to 4.8 hybrid now which it will fly with...
On our land to pull at a constant speed of around 10 k would need 350 hp
Same tractor but another 40 hp on 650 tyres doesn't pull as well as the smaller on 710's

Do you think a JD 6145R(145hp) would cope with the 3.45m SR? Our land is not particularly heavy, we do have some slopes. There is a 2nd hand one for sale locally but there seem to be a range of opinions on hp required. Don't really want to change tractor

IMO I don't think a 6145R would cope with a 3.45 SR..........they're heavy drills and take some lugging around before it goes in the ground

I run a 3.45 SR and had it on a 150hp deutz with was both under powered and under weight but just did the job aslong as your not wanting to put the legs in deep and on heavy ground. After taking on more contract drilling and needing to do a better job in more situations I now have a 7930 which seems overkill however drilling into turf and heavy clay soils will use every pony she has! They are a heavy especially full of seed but I find it a brilliant drill for our situation and wouldn’t be without it now

We had a MF 6290 on a 3 metre SR but was much better on a 7480 with weights out on front linkage. As said it's a fair lump.
Could I mention that I have a four metre Hybrid available here.
