When Will It Rain In The South East and East

Great news, we have had rain today!!
10 mm over night and a few showers since. You wouldn't know as the ground is still rock hard.
Everything is already going green and if it warms up at the end of the week we might still get some grass growth and the Stubble turnips might do a bit more!!
Things are green in West Suffolk too but the ground is still rock hard and below par for water table I'm convinced. No way would I have driven my Landrover through the marsh driving cattle in a normal late October today - it would have been a long lonely walk back

20mm here just south of the scottish borders on easy coast over last three days & plenty sleet to go with it.
It was dry before hand mind so very welcomed. Big drop in temps also.
But then again its kinda what it should be for the time of year.

2" this week has at last put a little water in the ditches.
A long way to refill the ground but at least it is mild and everything is growing and the cattle outside are very happy.

Well it is wonderful how nature always balances things out.
Since the 1st November we have now had over 12" of rain, when in a year we normally only get 26"!
It has now become wet and the cattle are having to come in off the wetter land. I think the reservoirs and the ground water are being replenished now.

Gone very wet here since Nov 1 and raining again to today, we certainly don't need any more till spring now

522mm for the year, unlikely to change much over the next few days, great for getting the work done, but serious problems with springs drying up and a cautious worry for next years crops!
