Still waiting

I have had the camera test done for my investigation on my intestine, I had it done quite some time ago,the result did show a pollyp on the inner wall.
I have had three follow up appointments,all have been cancelled,then I was sent an appointment for new years eve in the afternoon.
I arrived at the hospital and went to the reception. The receptionist told me it had been cancelled again , but I had not been notified.She also stated that it had been re scheduled for mid January 2019. I told her I had not been notified of this.
I asked why,and she said it could be that there were more urgent cases that needed seeing to. I said ' Oh,so mine is not urgent?' , she stumbled a bit,and with that she went off to the department and asked me to wait in the reception area. Ten mins later she returned and told me to go to the department, I went and was told I might have to wait another hour, I declined because I had left my wife at home who was suffering very badly from a perforated ear drum and infection,and I had to rush about to get her some prescription medicine prior to my appointment.
When I arrived home lo and behold I got an automated message fro the hospital robot saying that my appointment had been re scheduled for January 2019.
Say no more.

They have identified a polyp, these are very very common so not something to become unduly concerned about, a fraction of a percent of polyps can become cancerous but that process literally takes years. They will probably want to have you in to see the consultant who will review your case and then decide if they want to remove the polyp or not.

There is really no need to be hugely alarmed by the fact you have a polyp, they are literally as routine as moles on people's skin. It is something to be aware of. How long ago did you have the colonoscopy?

I think @Loner is more alarmed at the service that he is getting, not the diagnosis, apologies if that is not the case.

Understandable in this case. I was just pointing out that the delay in this case, is not going to affect the outcome unduly.

I presume they removed the polyp and you are just going back for the results. If that is the case then I despair that someone cannot just pick up the phone and tell you.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick here.My gripe is the amount of cancallations I have had since having the scan.
A polyp was found,and it has not made me anxious or alarmed.
I have now been back for a face to face report with the staff,and they are going to remove it. All was explained,and I am still not alarmed etc.
But in my case I have other issues that concern medication for thinning my bloood due to a heart bypass,and that has to be discussed.

Ah I see. They tend to remove them routinely as such so that does not indicate anything sinister.

The issue of medications you may be taking as you say is seperate and could be a factor in any surgery though from the very limited bit I know the removal of polyps is done in conjunction with colonoscopy rather than a full anaesthesisa and through the sunroof job but I could be wrong.

I am totally guessing now but I assume they would evaluate your blood work before any procedure.

I wish you well and I am hopeful your experience is of the routine and uneventful kind.

I think going private for any type of surgery would be a bit expensive. Also it seems that the department dealing with cases like mine are overloaded with patients anyway. Everytime I have been to the hospital for anything, it seems you never ever get seen on time,and on average have to wait about 30 mins past your time.
I do expect private is a type of fast track ,it is just the cost .

NHS is fantastic just clowns in it?
Private maybe costly but if something is caught early better than saying come back 2yrs time ?
Depends on senario and risk factors maybe?

Given that you are NOT a qualified doctor then you really should NOT be giving out medical advice @ollie989898

Very very dangerous giving out such advice when your not qualified and such advice could lead to someone who reads it not getting/ seeking advice which could lead to fatal results for them down the road.

I have given out details from my own experiences,I have not given any medical advice, but there again tyou will always get someone who makes a statement like yours , just to try and get someones back up, how is the cltted cream buisiness doing in your area?.

Reports today of investigations in to the Welsh NHS system , a lot of issues including one where the public were able to walk freely around the wards.I am sure we will learn more in the future.Like you say ' Clowns in it ' .

One thing to give out experiences from your own experiences of a health issue and quite another for someone like Ollie who has only just started medical training yet no where near qualified giving out advice as thou he is an expert/qualified doctor on a health issue.
