Strewth!
Positive thoughtsIn answer to the op, yes.
2019 pretty sh1t so far.
Same here.2019 is looking good so far.
Never seen january so dry.
Limespreaders out, muck going out without a mark on the land.
Strewth!
no "winter" crop planted last year ( May - Jul. Wheat / barley / chickpeas / canola etc. Cool season crops, harvested in our spring / summer at end of year ), so no income from that. First time ever . . .
our window or time frame for planting "summer" crps is pretty much over by end of January, but with the heat & absolutely no soil moisture, not much chance of anything happening now
next crop planting opportunity is "winter" crop again, but even in a best case scenario, that still means no potential income til December 19. . .
Have my 4 yr old house up for sale
so yes, 19 isn't starting out the best
Bugger . Sorry to hear that.Wasn't going too bad until we found a previously blooming in-calf heifer dead in the yard mid morning, still warm, silage still in her mouth, no signs of any struggle or trauma, presume heart attack or similar.
Very sorry to hear that Roy, there doesn’t seem to be any talk of it over here on our news.
It is dry here too, obviously not a drought. But it really is starting to look serious for potato crops coming this year, as we’re already starting out with high moisture deficits. I know things can change, but it’s been ina dry pattern for nearly a year now.
But you're left living with the impact? Classic news tactic - thrash it for all it's worth but don't bore everybody by going on too long?yeah, its sorta "old" news here as well, its outlived its media & news cycle worthiness . . .
Anthrax?Wasn't going too bad until we found a previously blooming in-calf heifer dead in the yard mid morning, still warm, silage still in her mouth, no signs of any struggle or trauma, presume heart attack or similar.
Thinking of you guys .In answer to the op, yes.

You must be ringing very important people, I too have these types of people in my phone. I love leaving them messages about how busy they must be, and how i would love to hear back from them when they can fit me in.People not returning phone calls. In touch with 6 people this week, all have had messages left.
First one calls back this morning.
Useless. It's rude more than anything.
RPA inspection yesterday....24 hrs notice all passports and paperwork.
Coming back Tues to run all cattle through the crush to read all tags. He wanted to do it Mon morning but I managed to put him off as I know there are some tags missing which I need to get in first. So frustrating when I have plenty else to be doing ! He tells us that we are in the 'target bracket' for being inspected. When asked what that meant it was that this winter the RPA are targeting mid range cattle farmers for inspection ,i.e with a herd number between 180 and 320, I straight away said that I thought inspections were supposed to be entirely random to which he said they are but if a holding comes up for inspection and is for less than 180 cattle or more than 320 it will be more likely to not be inspected in favour of any in the targeted bracket ! I simply don't trust them !!!!
