Feed wheat £155 Jan/March 2020

Trying to second guess the Deal vote on Tuesday by taking some cover.

What do options cost for that period?

It's certainly a big call at the moment which way anything will go in next few months. I suppose the aim at the moment must be to protect against risk of losses rather than hoping to maximise profits. (not that is a bad thing)

A lot of good looking crops at the moment, I’m wondering what stories are going to come out if we have a big export surplus which could keep prices down. Did a couple loads Nov £156, might do some more methinks.
Argentina having a fantastic growing season, Brazil pondering whether they will break crop records. How are other cropping regions doing?

How much are you doing? I'm tempted to lock in 1t/acre of harvest 19.

If it's rejected though will that not weaken the £ and benefit us anyway.

Just over half budgeted yield. I can turn a profit at that. No osr done yet as I’m still concerned that flea beetle could kill a fair chunk of the crop. Wheat is harder to market under WTO than barley so I’ve only done a little bit of malting barley marketing.

It's all malting barley we grow, but contracts are £20 above wheat futures.

Would get £180 at moment. Which would be a decent profit. Did some at £190 in October.

Gut says spot market will start with a 2 at harvest.

I can’t remember where the options prices are listed. I’ll have a look around the LIFFE websites later.
