Friction spray?

Is there such a thing as a friction spray? and no I don't mean glue or duct tape(!!)

I've a mounting bracket that screws together to tighten it up, but the previous owner has ruined the screw head so I can't tighten it any more so it keeps falling down with the slightest bit of weight.

I wondered whether there was a spray or such that I could spray between the two pieces that would create some friction enough to hold it stationary, yet still enable it to be moved if required. Almost like two pieces of sandpaper. Trouble is I can't take it apart to access so it would need to be a spray of some sort.

Left hand drill will probably whizz it out.
Wedge a bit of cardboard in there.
Pull a bit of string in between it.

This might even help you get the screw out which is the best option

Footsfitter used to rave about some stuff for using on damaged screws, it that it? If it is into plastic then a soldering iron can be used to warm the screw...

I have some of that screw grab stuff not very impressed with it, could you dribble some loctite down in the gap between the sliding parts to make it a bit more "sticky"

Castrol used to do (maybe still do) have an aerosol spray that was as tacky as anything, we used to use it at the quarry, if any of the conveyors broke down with a full belt of rock, we would spray the drive roller with this tacky spray and it would stop the belt from slipping on the drive roller and grip it to get the loaded belt moving again
