Like a tidal wave of runners...................753 folk who start roughly by the tree then negotiate the barrier "pinch point" on the right between the poplar/fir trees. Least Saturday will be "normalish"!!
Of those 753 they reckon 300+ "did the double" with Victoria Park in town, Vicky park started at 9.00am and we started at 10.30 to give folk time to get from one to the other!!

Come on fellow fiends....its New Year!!

299th out of 550 participants in 29 minutes 15 seconds, and a hell of a scrap (in a friendly way) on the hill with 2 of the next door neighbours!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

And a Parkrun "first" for me.....I lapped two people. (y)

We are "Equipment Team" for the next 5 or 6 weeks as well. :):)

Big turnout today (112), and the barcode zappers decided to pack up at some point after the event :banghead:
So there's been lots of activity on Facebook trying to match participants to their times. I often don't look at my token at the end (breathing and not having a heart attack takes priority) but I happened to remember I came 89th this morning, and the girl who came in a couple of seconds behind me didn't know her placing, but happened to have timed herself, which has got us both confirmed on the results page (y)

I was looking at some stats on the website just now, and Chelmsford, quite close to me, had 850 runners today!
If I'd been there with my time today I'd have come 736th (n)
And their winner was nearly four minutes quicker than our winner. It's not unheard of for them to be over 5 minutes quicker!

I think the surface can make a big difference, ours is half tarmac half grass, you can feel like your fairly bouncing along on the hard surface but its a shock to the system when you get back onto grass.

Our course is mostly grass, which suits me fine (although there's one section about halfway round that you'd go round it with wellies on normally, a change of dry socks is a requirement for the end). Grass gives a softer landing for my larger frame on my ankles and knees. My sister, who's much more of a proper runner, prefers tarmac paths where she gets the grip to take better strides.

255th out of 495 in a respectable 29 min 36 secs.................. it was "moist"..... my feet got wet setting up on the grass. @bovrill @JLLM @Daniel Larn ...... how are the rest of the team getting on?? :):)
Still cant manage the park runs, Saturday mornings just don't work with my schedule.

I haven't been running that much recently, lots of early starts and long drives, but have been walking a lot more during the day.

I do have an interest in this event though:

Just waiting to see if I will be free to do it.
