JCB cab looked ok , but paint on it still looked very poor , you would not buy a 80 or 100k car for the paint to fall off, have told our dealer about this problem loads of times and falls on deaf ears , dash in the old ones was very poor no hour meter on show all the time ,fan speeds were joke ,, they could only make a better one you would hope

I briefly sat in a 542-70 & thought its a cab & then got out of it thinking what was so wrong with olduns?
Buttons galore to the right of your right arm.
Atleast there joystick is half decent unlike merlos current offering

don't want to start an argument with the master of all things mechanical, but why is having hour meter on show all the time important?

What's wrong with it?

The usual stuff, probably. They will claim that its this, that, and the other, best at this, most efficient at that, but in reality they will gloss over many big issues.

Painting
Weld quality, (on a ROPS structure as well!)
Dashboard, the electrics, unless there are big changes, they will be cheaply made, unreliable nonsense.
The seat, seems to be the same as last time, they cheapest that they can find.
Plastic fit up is not what it should be, we pay a premium price for a premium product.
Air conditioning, and fan, that does not really do the job
Cheep joystick buttons that wear out, but cannot be replaced without changing the whole sodding stick.
Electrics made by someone who has a grudge against common sense

But it's ok, they have rounded the square bits, and squared the round bits, nice yellow handles so all is good.

Still, what should be one of the most brilliant companies in the UK, is resting on their laurels, twiddling with some covers and switches, living off the fat of the 3CX and Loadall.

Now i havnt got a JCB but by chrikey they must have some serious Massey Virus by the sounds of folks on here.
Maybes behind the closed doors at night some of the RED Tractor folks sneak in & change the designs & parts specs eh...
How can the likes of JCB get this so fundamentally wrong it does make you wonder
Yet there supported very much like the hardened DEERE buyers of this world.

Meanwhile i'll just keep my old trusty merlo gan & no id deffo not have any of there latest models neither.

Tin hat on

Is the cab air intake still at the back of the roof? most manufacturers insist on placing it there simply because it's easy.. Totally unacceptable with the exhaust right beside it, diesel fumes sucked straight into the cab.. That's most of the reason at the end of a day you feel rough and a dizzy head.. And of course it's probably knocking years of your life expectancy. When you watch a forklift or tractor at night in the dry, the dust and fumes swirling behind the cab is unreal. Most tractors have this problem, the only way to help this is keep the exhaust as high as possible and the air intake well down and forwards. designers would do much better if they had to sit in it for 12 hours..

There is a lot of poor designed kit yet all makers want a fortune for there products.
Some of it should have never been made in the 1st place
