I cant see there are any farmers around the world that are that happy with the way things are, someone has to get the ball rolling , to quote an American Farmer this morning "I dont want a bloody wall , I want my money so I can buy some seed "
Subsidy money though . So the farmers in USA do get subs .

I was happy when I was getting £200 / sub on bulls and £30/ /sub on broken mouthed ewes . But wasnt doing farming or the country much good was it
Ewes costing £10, tack 11 months of £11 and they all got shipped back to the home farm for the count and then back out again. The more sheep you bought the more money they made. Similar to the fencing grant at piece rate years ago, grant of £1/metre yet contractors would do the full job for 75p/metre, the more they fenced the more money they made (n)

Yes, I heard that. Wants his subs so he can buy seed.
Yet they keep saying they don't have them! @Roger Perry

I have never heard of a sub to"buy seed" maybe he is one of the soybean farmers who got special dispensation $$$ because of the tariff battle with China. This was a one off pmt for farmers who grew corn/beans etc and were unable to move the crop out because of the ongoing dispute.
In my part of the country we mostly grow crops that do not qualify for sub except a bit on small grains.

I do believe there is an element of subsidy if you take out crop insurance, trouble is that if you need to make a claim you better be sure you purchased better than average coverage to get your growing cost back...........its' a fact that no one ever got rich out of crop insurance, many insurers have pulled of the business over the last year or two.......unable to generate much of a profit..

Will add that most folks are supportive of strengthening the southern border if it can be combined with an overhaul of some immigration laws.

Reading the western mail today and Sir Vince Cable (Liberal democrat leader) said that there is contingency plans in place by DEFRA to cull 1/3rd of the entire sheep population in the UK if there is a no deal Brexit?

Read halfway down this piece from the guardian and you can find it there.

I'm sure it'll be hard going if it's no deal but taking out a third of the national flock seems something of an over reaction!

Where do the eu get it from
From EU tax payers, easy for our government to say we send money to the EU, the EU support our farmers. When our government have to justify where our tax payers money goes it won't be coming to us "wealthy" land owners. Brexit is the end of income support for British farming you can decide for yourself if that is good or bad... I suspect the Samaritans will be betting a surge in calls from desperate farmers as those who are reliant on BPS run out of money...
