trouble is i guess the charlock has fair size and toughness about it by now ?

I have used MCPB before but dont ask me how much tho.....
......It will knock it back.
It will have a bit of effect on the peas as well ... but dont worry :unsure::nailbiting::)(y)

Just out of interest, are you planning to combine or forage the crop? Do oats and peas mature together ok for combining?

Sorry, but I'm no help to you for your herbicide question.

not such a break crop but.....
Barley and peas will come together especially with a bit of care choosing varieties. At harvest you dont want to be delayed as far as the peas are concerned of course ......cut it as soon as they are fit .... with decent weather it works well and even a bit of lodging is not a disaster like peas on their own can be.
Might try some next year. Will see what my agronomist says about herbicide options.

Not for oats and to be used in a normall till situation .:bag:..but ...Stomp (pendimethalin.) for barley and peas (Pre- em only) .

one fungicde and no need for preharvest if you get your timing right and give the crop priority at that time with the combine...(y)

I have used 0.4l MCPA super 500. No problem at all. Sprayd at evening side after no windy day. I would say Can go up to 0.6l ha.

Some of mate here with biger balls using 0.4mcpa 750

It is a crop for Combining and then to bale the straw.
I expect them to mature around the same time, and will use reglone if necessary.

How did your Oat/Pea crop perform last year? I'm interested in knowing more especially regarding the drilling rates and ratios of the different seed.

The crop yielded just under 2.5t/acre of which about 0.5t was the peas , which when you consider lack of rain after sowing is very good.
In fact someone growing a normal crop of peas nearby didn't bother combining the crop as they were so poor.
Pea seed rate was about 100kg/ha and Oats about 180kg/ha.
If i was doing this again i would increase peas to 130kg/ha and reduce the Oats to 150kg/ha as i felt the Oats dominated the Peas too much.

I tend to agree with you, but if you look at my pictures above the crop looks about right to me, it was standing nicely at harvest and was easy to combine.
However it was a low rainfall year and most other spring crops around here were poor, so i am very pleased with the results. Maybe with more rain it would have all gone flat !!!
