Fence strength

I've grown up on dairy farms and have worked on dairy farms. Cows have pushed me and I've pushed back. I figure I can do this affordably and on enough land to work out. I'm just curious if people think my fencing idea will be strong enough for cows (no bulls) I'm familiar with woodworking

All wood and screws properly treated and stained for above ground/underground use

Two 8ft 4x4 posts 8ft apart, 3ft under ground, and 5 feet above . Connected with 2x6's. Bottom 2 boards butted together 1"off ground and the remainder of the height with 4" gaps. And 4ft of deer fence on top (total of 9ft above ground)

To keep livestock on property, be good looking, simple to repair/replace, and protect from predators

Do you think cows/deer would break through?

How many metres of this are you planning to erect ? Surely it would cost a small fortune ! Can't see 4" square posts lasting very long holding up all that ! Is there any need to go to such extremes ?

I'm still young and spit balling for a goal of a hobby farm. 15+years from now. I'd like cows, goats, pigs, chickens, deer. My main concern is wolves, cayotes, mountain lions, and the unlikely bear.

I figure 1100 meters at about $6000US

always open to new ideas but looking for low maintenance

There will be a fair population of wolves in the area

I suggested otter fence because ive used it BUT id no idea they made so many different fence types , one to suit i think .....

Honestly I forgot that existed. Haha. I used to work at a hardware store and loaded that fencing intro people's trucks all the time. They make some pretty heavy duty stuff. Probably exactly what I'm looking for. With a 4x4inch post every 1.2 meters. I'd imagine it's strong enough and acts as a deterrent for cows on one side and wolves on the other

Personal opinion only but my long experience of deer fencing is that sawn square timber posts and machine turned round post have had the integrity machined out of them. A natural round post is better and has more strength at ground level where the effect of any impact higher up the fence will act.

Places round here have heavy duty deer fencing with posts every 8ft but have galv. chain link buried to a foot down and 2ft up the fence and that keeps wild boar in. They're farmed. There is a bison farm 2 farms up from me with the same fence but no chain link.
Ummm... Bears?.

Maybe if you add an electric wire at about a 3 to 4 feet high on outriggers, depending how you plan to manage your herd?

That'll stop the cattle leaning on it, and if you are going to move them around, then you'll have electric to clip onto.

What's your prevailing wind, definitely worth considering if you are keeping chickens as to the spacing on the lowest boards?
Height will also depend on what size deer, most deer farms here have wider post spacings with large round posts, to handle elk size deer, red deer can get away with topping up a standard height fence, but a large mob of deer will flatten them if spooked.

No idea on the predator front predators here carry polywire and water
