Got a 2005 2.7petrol biturbo allroad, 120k when i bought it, paid £1500 18 months ago with 12 months MOT and recent service and not missed a beat, supposedly 250bhp but doesnt feel it as its a heavy car. If it blows up i will scrap it and find another. Downside is it does 20mpg if you go steady.
Ffs, youd pay 5000+€ for that car here. You only get early 2000's Toyotas and other japanese pieces of poo for 1,5k.

I had an a5 3litre diesel Quattro coupe. Lovely car to look at and drive, or the s5, it sounds amazing. Your girlfriend will love it too! It’s like a go kart but a decent cruiser. Even one with a bit of age should be grand. Only reason I changed mine was cos we had a second kid! It was 11 when we traded it. We tolerated the inconvenience while we had one as we liked it so much!

Don't buy a Phaeton.

Don't buy a diesel.

How old are you, what lifestyle, do you have a dog or something you might need to put in the back? Do you really need AWD or not?

Do you mind a jacked up estate or SUV?

I personally think VAGs are a bit dull these days.

The running costs on A4 and A6 Allroads can be off the chart. Believe me I have looked into it.

I would love to try to flog you on Volvos but they don't suit all tastes.

How about an Impreza? Plenty of Saloons and Hatachbacks about, some nice GB270 editions on autotrader.

Lexus ISF? 400 brake...?

There is a VERY naughty Saab Carlsson 2.8t AWD on there as well for under 9k. Make a hell of a Q car.

EDIT: anyone who says Audi TT should be forced to drive a pink one around A LOT until they are dissuaded from such a foolish notion. They are girls cars, I don't care if it has the engine from Thrust SSC. Nissan 350Z or Alpina BMW would be waaaaaay better.

Think that would be the v12, we've the 3.0 v6 diesel in our audi, would be same engine as one in link above. So hoping its reliable.

There were a few engine options, some of them found their way into the Passat and Audi A8 etc. One is a W8 petrol (don't ask), the other is a 5.0 V10 diesel and there is yours the relatively straight forward and sensible 3.0 TDI which found its way into loads of VAG cars. There was a W12 6.0 petrol. Can't see that going down well.

Any Phaeton will be a complex beast and getting very long in the tooth now.
