Farming in Wigtownshire

I grew up in Ayrshire, which isn't a million miles from Wigtownshire (where I have relatives farming, and where my only exposure to farms was).

I'll second the idea that it's in the middle of nowhere, and takes an age to get anywhere. It might as well be Mars in terms of travelling logistics.

Having travelled through Ayrshire , that's hardly fair........

The travel issue is only if you want to go anywhere. You should not judge it by how long it takes to travel up from Suffolk or Wales. It takes a long time to drive from Galloway to London but that does not make London remote. The travel time per mile is much shorter here as there are no traffic lights within 25 miles and no parking charges. Most of my travel is within 5 miles of home here in Galloway and I could easily get all my inputs within 30 minutes drive. The farm for sale, however, is remote even by our standards but it means being more self-sufficient and resilient which can keep costs down. There are weeks go past that I could stay at home and it is the same down there.

I suppose you're right, assuming you never want to see anything beyond your own eyesight.

If you want access to the wider world, and products not available at the local Hick suppliers, then you need to look further afield.
