Ewe rations

Was speaking to the mill today and they said they’d make me up whatever ration I wanted. Any suggestions as to a simple 18% ration that wouldn’t break the bank ? I’m told soya hulls and maize meal can be bought at the right money atm.

I use a 25% soya 50% barley 10% oats 12.5% beet pulp 2.5% minerals ration for January lambing pedigrees for the last two years and will never change away.

it’s 10% dearer than the different rations I had used in the last few years. But it’s like comparing a rolls Royce to a push bike

What’s the easiest way to get the minerals into them ? Can you buy premixed minerals 25kg bags ?
Yes you can easily get loose minerals it is the mixing in thats nots so easy to do, a nimble use of loader bucket in a nice smooth concrete corner ... would be a basic way faster than the old chain and slat mixers that used to be on a lot of farms …
but blend pellets are a better though more expensive way of doing it as they are easier than powder to mix correctly and they will have protein in as well so just need to add whole cereals .. oats and maybe also a bit of barley for higher energy.. if you could borrow a mixer/feeder wagon and do up a mix?
I bought an old ex beef unit small wagon and my simplest to do good feed is just whole oats and blend pellet ( small 34% protein pellet with soya and minerals) mixed in the wagon it has got working weigh cells which make it even easier.

timely bolussing would be a way of making sure they have vits and mins.
