Got a customers machine in. Lely optimo.
The long hexagon driveshaft has gone in the bed.
kramp, granit, agco etc all drawing a blank.
Anyone know if the shaft is a stock size that can be bought from a steel stockholders?
I know the older square shaft was available like that

Normal steel bar wouldn’t work on the square ones, know of a few that tried. Not sure if the hex is the same but a brocken 280 one was ideal to repair a 240! They always broke right by the gearbox drive!!!

Still?!?! We bust a couple of teeth on a pinion and disc gear in ours back in August.

Parts were an absolute nightmare then, more than 6 months later and they're still scarce? I'm glad we didn't change it for another now.... It's a shame cos they're good mowers.

If anyone’s really stuck for a square one I’m sure there’s still a brocken 280 one on top of the wall here. We came to our senses and sold the dam mower before we used all the old 280 shafts we accumulated!! If it wasn’t the shaft it was the dam bearings in the gearbox! One set of bearings only did 15 flipping acres!! And a new gearbox only lasted two seasons!! Next door neighbour on the other hand had one the same that he would unhitch in the field when finished and return to it next season, hitch up and go! Nothing went wrong on that one!!
