Wouldn’t mind a few more like this. Just finished her first lactation back in calf to sexed goodwhone again. She had a goodwhone daughter as a heifer. First service both times quiet and not had a problem with her all year and nice low cell count

No he's not dead, just saving his energy until he goes with the heifers in a few weeks.

Tanker fill time is usually directly affected by:

How worn the vanes are in the pump
How worn the inside of the casing is

(Both of which are influenced by the use of lubricant oil! or not)

Also very important not to run a pump too fast, as it only heats up the casing and buggers it. Jurop pumps on our Hi-spec tankers, and we run them at 270-320PTO depending on the material we are sucking. Amazed to see some folks running pumps well over 400PTO, and you couldn't touch the pump for the heat.

Also important is how well sealed the fill pipe is. A bad connection to tanker, and a holey pipe can result in slower fill, but more importantly froth - loads not full, therefore more loads and more work to move the same slurry, and wear on pump. Our newer tanker has a full length sight tube - and it's been a revelation.

Oh aye, and grit that makes the back door leak air in slightly.

1.1 kgs of shine OAD powder fed in the mornings runs out over night.

2 and a half years since I last milked a cow and I'm coming out of retirement and getting back into the pit.

Can’t get 20 calves round a drum so we have twodrums connected together with 24 teats between them. . Don’t want them fixed down it increases the effort required to clean the drums out.

Around 9 litres all in.
Cleaning is done as the calf rearer sees fit. Once a week maybe? I’ll ask.

Is that mixed warm and fed warm or is it cold

What ever temp the plate cooler water is in the flood pump tanks after milking.

We use cold water to mix milk powder but it never mixes properly and then settles out

How much powder do you give them to weaning ? and at what age do you wean them ?

Wish you well with the Goodwhone heifers we calved in 10 this winter and all have great fat and protein but have super fast feet for removing units. Took average 2 weeeks to settle them were as i can safely say never had any such problems in over 30 years.
