When the petting farms and smallholders have had their fill they will be selling at Thainstone rare breeds sale on a Saturday for less than feeder ring prices through the week.
If you want cute pets good on you go for it but the bubble is not forever.

I saw young wedder lambs advertised on Facebook... £300 each 
You have no idea how close I was to commenting ripping them a new one for the extortionate asking price for what can only ever be a fat lamb
The bubble hasn't burst yet, but it won't be long til you can pick them up for 10 a penny, like you can Zwartbles...

The thing that intrigues me, watching the tv programme, is what happens with regards rules and regulations, vet etc. OK folks have to get a cph to buy one as a pet, but that then puts you on the system as a livestock keeper with allsorts of agencies potentially having to inspect, see records etc, PITA for all concerned. If the pet sheep needs the vet where do folks go; our farm vet wont look at our dog, and the vet we take the dog to wont look at a sheep. There must be Valais sheep ending up in households many miles away from a livestock vet.

Get a good fat lamb out of a Zwartble though put to the right Tup, that will perform and sell as well as anything else in the Mart. Can’t imagine pens of valais x fat lambs at the mart fetching Much.

The ones I saw born on the telly didn’t look very vigorous.
Ostriches are a good example of occasional livestock pyramid scheme that pops up, everyone was having a go buying a breeding female for £2,000. They'd be busy converting a few paddocks to keep a couple, thinking they were going to make a fortune selling breeding stock.
Then people stopped by breeding stock and the breeders who had invested heavily worked out ostrich meat is only worth £75 a bird.

Nah. Govt doesn't bother checking up on you unless you're claiming subs.
If you were found doing something wrong, it'd cost them to get a fine out of you... if you claim subs they just dock your next payment - easy money.

I can see the appeal. Can't deny they are different and a bit eye catching... potentially great for kids.
But be prepared to (at the moment) pay through the nose for them. It'll be dead money with no return.
As far as I'm aware, for all they come from the Swiss mountain regions - they are not particularly hardy and you need a shed/shelter for them to handle typical UK winters.
Theres 2 flocks very close to me. I can't see your location... 1 would charge stupid money, they other may be more realistic

yes agree , a good texel or blocky charollais will give you a superb fat lamb and quick ,such is quality and quantity of milk , and they (the lambs) are as hardy as hell
The only thing you need to know about any new breed is , does it offer something over and above commercially than whats on the market now , i havnt seen anything the valis offers so far , other than looks , You only need to look around essex nightclubs to draw comparisons of pretty but thick useless snowflakes of both sexes that the public buy into
