I popped into Welshpool to see their first Wednesday afternoon sale of the season. Prices were certainly up compared to Monday, for all apart from the 62kg lambs making £90.
There must have been at least 200 in.

I weighed a few hoggs other day quite a few over 60kg! Been in a field on its own since they were weaned, I knew they were big hoggs but they were a little larger than I thought!! Most are texel x mules with a few 3/4 texels so i think I’m going to pull the big gimmers out and keep them if the job doesn’t improve for the heavy hoggs. Only problem with them is that they are all my reared triplets which I don’t normally keep back to breed from - does anyone else?

Sold 41s at 83 and 47.5s at 86. Not a single lamb made £90

Some of the best hoggs I sold last year were in March. They were some of the worst money compared to what I sold later

The sale av was up £2 according to the report.... but that will be including all the silly prices.Sold 30 ten month bullocks/ heifers today at Carlisle special sale today.
Av £1000 but £80 down on year
No surprise the way the fat price has gone.
