MF hydraulics help!

One for the MF experts here please?
Has anyone tried connecting trailer brakes to trailer tipping pipe and using pressure control to operate brake? Just wondering? is there sufficient or too much pressure and would it release? I don't have access to pressure gauge or would have tried this before asking! :scratchhead::scratchhead:
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Was quite common years ago before proper in-line braking was common according to the old man. It takes a bit of getting used to as sometimes you need to "ride" the control whilst still maintaining control of the tractor & it's definitely a good idea to set a "stop" on the control to stop you over-braking and skidding (especially when empty). Release of the brakes will depend on the brakes installed, basic systems are self releasing so as long as the spool is an "open return" as you would normally use on a tipper it should be ok.

I have a trailer brake set-up from a 698 in the shed if any use.

The only problem is that the links will fall to the bottom when pressure is released completely. The answer is to attach a chain from the lower link to the long pin, unless the long pin is used for the later auto hitch, in which case attach to the top link pin. This keeps the lower links from tangling with the drawbar of implement and cuts the delay while the links raise.

it can be done with 2 small rams that pull rather than push ,connect 1 in to the trailer brake system and the other to the trailer tipping pipe or a spool valve and connect the rams with a suitable spring and an adjuster rod . the spring sets the max brake pressure that can be applied to prevent damage as one ram pulls the other closed to operate the brakes
