Big square Baler

I might be looking for a square Baler. Needs to be 4x2.6 or 4x4. No experience in ether of these. Nothing too flash budget of under 20k. What’s the best ? Thinking BB950 ? Or claas quadrant ?

Massey 187 are pretty bomb proof, would be my choice at that money! Slightly biased as used to have one changed it for a 2270xd!

Agreed, but a 187 is 4x3 not a quad or 4x4, and tidy ones will be nearer £30k than £20k.

Personally for the budget I’d go for a late Hesston 4900 / MF190, and spend any leftover budget giving it a birthday.

That’s why I suggested a 187 I feel 4x3 is a better size of bale to deal with in all situations, just my thoughts!

Our neighbours have a 2190 on a 6215r seems to get on ok. I have 8320r on a 2270xd not so much I need it but keeps output up on the hills!

I have a MF 190 bought new in 02 I think, about 30k bales and immaculate, kept as spare for three others for years, would sell it for 15k, if you decide a 4x4 is what you want then you will not find a better 190.

did the Xd come new or used, terrible machine for build quality, and yes I have 2.

Depends how much output you want from them, and how many hills you have. 150-200 really. If you want bale weights AND output, the more horsepower the better.

In that case I’d give Puntas 190 a look. 30k bales is nothing, they’re good for 100k. Forget about age, it’s wearing parts you’re interested in.

A 190 for 15K has to be a good deal, surely? 15K in Claas money buys you what, maybe the main gearbox?

You can have my BB950 if the price is right !, it’s not looking like I’ll be using it this year as I’ve still got a shed full of straw and an empty bank account.

I’ve a chaser to go with it n all !.
