Livestock Farmer
Anyone got decent populations of Linnets, Yellowhammers or Tree Sparrows?
We had the rspb here a few years ago counting birds to compare between farms that were and weren't in the old tir gofal and the then new glastir. He was very exited to find tree sparrows here. He said there were a lot of them too mostly in a Holly hedge right next to the house.
Btw his conclusion about the environment schemes was that they don't make much difference that good hedges and keeping of top of predators make more difference than anything else. Whether he could say that in his official role as an rspb employee who do so well out of said schemes on their reserves is another matter
