If the other side is arable it can be claimed as an adjacent hedge can't it.
It's just the boundaries of non arable where I will lose the hedge.
The rules seem so complicated when it comes to hedges , buffer strips and fallow strips within the same parcel, and when the fallow area is larger.
Can I call a field permanent pasture even if has only been grass for 4 years? Or will they reclassify it as temporary. Whether it is temp or perm will affect my total arable area and hence the amount of greening required.

Well if you’ve been claiming temp grass as EFA and have done so every year since it was arable I BELIEVE it will stay as EFA temp grass for as long as necessary.
As I understood it grass was only temporary for 5 years and classed as part of the arable rotation. After 5 years it became permanent pasture thus would no longer have the arable attributes. However, is the onus on the farmer to alter the status on the form or should it come with the correct pre populated land use code?
I'm thinking that if I leave it as temporary and an inspection reveals it has been down for more than 5 years then I could be in trouble if I've used all the roadside hedges as efa.
It's all academic anyway as I've finished the claim and I've got plenty of spare efa for security .
I find that I always need lots more efa than necessary to help me sleep at night. Especially when the hedge/ buffer /fallow rules are so ambiguous.
The way chemicals are being revoked I'll be able use the bean area without ppp's before long!

wtf is efa im not on the scheme any longer why does it say diversification not met.?

If you claim BPS you have to have 5% of your arable area as Environmental Focus Area (EFA).
The 5% can be counted in numerous ways such as hedgerow length, fallow area, catch or cover or nitrogen fixing crops.
Thanks i wasn't aware of that , i can easily cover/qualify that but how do it on the application ..?
If you've got the right amount of each crop you'll be fine unless you've under or overclaimed in a parcel or parcels. EFA is a separate section.
