The 12m machine is very different configuration to the 4, 6 and 8m that have hoper above 2 rows of tighter spaced coulters

12m is seed cart pulling single wide spaced row toolbar

Is that to reduce height?

I tried a 6m Avatar and I think empty it weighed 9t. Lots of weight up high too.

Built like anything tho!!

Pulled 11m air seeder and 5 ton seed cart in OZ years ago with 215hp JD easy enough only thing was the Deere was a 8440 artic on duals all round so had more weight and tyre for traction.

I am thinking a bit more weight might be needed - wheel weights maybe as well as existing front weight

I’m sure we will pull it fine - it’s just a question of how fast !

Doesn’t ballasting the tractor to the moon go against what your trying to achieve?

Yes in the ideal world it does

But the ideal world doesn’t cover the cost of a extra staff member and tractor

I might not need extra weight, it should be fine. Zerotill ground is a lot less power hungry than cultivated

Nearly all air seeders here have seperate trailed carts
Makes access for loading so much easier & we don't want all that weight sitting on top of our planters & being carried by the frame & wheels

What about wider tyre? Say 1000’s on the rear. Surely that would help putting more lugs down over more ground and help with lower ground pressure.

Yes - have spec’ed widest Michelin’s possible - it’s limited by frame clearance / road legality - the track widens hydraulically in field for extra stability and true ctf tracking

Tractor being the limiting factor. I know a friend has a set of 1000’s he put on NH 7050 for drilling. Works well by all accounts.

Both out 724’s are on 721 / 42 Xerobibd which I really rate - we can’t go any wider and stay legal which is a big consideration given distances between units

We have a couple of banks that could be interesting and worst case we can drill steep boys downhill ! but I honestly think it will be fine

Will soon find out I guess !

I’m going to put my 12m Horsch sprinter tine drill with 2inch Dutch points into my 724 tomorrow and try and pull it on abit of fallow. If it will then will try and drill some osr and cover crops like that this summer. Not holding my breath though!

Is the fertiliser hopper solid or liquid, if it’s solid what starter fertiliser are you planning to use?

I've gone solid this time because it gives us more seed hopper space when we are not using fert winter(wheat, barley etc). If I want liquid for any reason in the future I could add it as well, to front of tractor on inline on the drawbar

Will place DAP ahead of crops where I want some seedbed N

Solid fert is quite a simple life to be honest.
