Woodchip consumption

I think about 150kg/h for 500 kw at full load, but that will probably be at 15 - 20% moisture. Wetter fuel = higher fuel consumption and heavier etc.
Someone else might have to confirm.

Ok thanks.

I’m still trying to learn what’s actually achievable in real terms how much 1 ton of chip or logs gives at the meter after boiler inefficiencies etc.

4000+ kWh from a ton of 25% logs seems like a tall order to me even with an ultra efficient system

2 boilers with the same kw, 1 chip other log. The chip is bound to do a lot more output in a 24 hour period.
Because it can run flat out most of the time.
The log has to rev up and then die down between fills. Etc

Yeah I quite agree.

The chip boiler will run constantly at say 85% of rated output

The log boiler will start at 30% then spike at 400% then drop back down.

Total heat output should be the same though really over a given weight usage
