Just needs a banner at the top 'There is no specific environment section here because all aspects of farming are intimately connected with the environment'

Seriously, is it a good idea to suggest environment is just another farming issue, like machinery or cropping ?

Trouble is with to many sections the more niche stuff gets ignored and they are very quiet forums

The environment is a “agricultural matter” so maybe best discussed there ?

Honestly don’t know ! We will do what the majority want and at the moment that say create a separate section

If it turns out to be a mostly quiet section, with just one or a couple of lively threads, could you move/sticky those & close it later?

If people use the new posts or trending threads then they will find anything that’s popular. If you limit yourself to just the Agricultural Matters then it’s your own fault for missing valuable information as most actual Ag information is in the other forum sections.

And while I do agree that most farms work with the environment, that makes it sound like most work for the environment as well, which isn’t true. Farms are businesses and need to run as businesses, most can’t afford to experiment with different methods that may be more ecologically beneficial. But if there’s a section where people can talk about what they’re trying - solar, wind, cover cropping, poly cropping, mob grazing, pollinator strips, riparian management, bat houses... the possibilities are endless! - then others can see what should work for them and may require minimal initial investment.

If someone can’t be bothered to even go to a subsection of a forum to read about environmental projects then I’d doubt their ability to invest energy into actually doing the projects.
