I think you’ll find that Robert Goodwill “gets” farming more, I think he owns a farm and was a committee chairman of the North Yorkshire NFU at one time.

The reports on Robert Goodwill from his visit to the Royal Cornwall Show were far from encouraging. I was not there but those that met him and spoke with him were seriously underwhelmed by the knowledge and understanding he demonstrated.

I’ve met Robert in my dealings with phase 1 and 2 to increase the legal speed limit of tractors and the weight of agricultural trailers and he was the minister in charge of the DfT at the time. From my conversations with him I felt that ( with his background ) he very much understood the issues of farming. I would agree that he is probably a more traditional type of farmer and may not necessarily appreciate the finer points of a direct drilling system but there would be many a forum member in exactly the same boat.

We`re probably a handful of experienced DDers from germany looking for somebody to visit or something to see on the tuesday late afternoon/evening before Groundswell to utilise our time in UK !
Preferrably in reachable distance from Royston & Bedford (Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire). We`re enthusiasts about soil, DDing, biology, arable and introducing livestock as well.

Sorry, I mis-wrote (as GW Bush might have said). There is a 10% discount for students and YFC members in answer to @tw15
Daughter wants to know do uni students have to pay full price ?
But don't hang about too long, tickets are going fast now. There are some really interesting talks lined up and some good questions coming through for the Minister. Getting quite a lot of interest from the mainstream media too, I think they're all gagging for good news stories as the news is so bleak otherwise...

@martian will there be any recordings this year? Rather gutted I can't make it this time. Particularly wanted to hear Alan Savory and the Burrells talk.

Hope it goes well and the thunder stays away.
Hi Dan
we've got 3 film crews roaming the talks, so most stuff will be recorded. Not all speakers are happy to be stuck on youtube, but Savory has given the nod so you'll be ok with him at least.
