Anyone useing just these two breeds for crossbreeding have a large number of first cross and a small number of 3/4 jersey.Reason for not using other breeds is both jersey and holstein are two great breeds both are also very good for type.Have tried most other breeds in small numbers.Dont want to use a third breed as i would end up with cows with very litte jersey which i feel is necessary for excellent feet and keeping cow size small for spring grazing

I'm using some Ayrshire (Hilltown Oblique) on the basis that they have good type and are a medium sized hardy cow not unlike the J X F. The first ones will be 5 week old embryos now so it will be a little while before I can report on the success of my trial.
