He makes an absolute mint from Glastonbury. I’m sorry but I agree. Yes his neighbours should be able to have their point heard. The op said 20 people had complained. Given how rural that is then I’d say it’s fair to get thrown out. Could you imagine being his neighbour this month? Unless you give up your job and go using the free ticket then your life will be very difficult while he gets richer. You go you the council and apply to hold a music event on your farm. Say you will pump thousands into the local community ( those bugger vans inside your ring fence).
I’m sure the B&b local do well but come on!

Michael has a long history of helping a LOT of local people and organisations

He and his Daughter are also very professional in the running of the event

As far as I can see he's asked for a dairy farming building on a separate piece of land

Surely any dairy farmer should be able to progress?

What he makes from Glastonbury should have nothing to do with it. Don’t let the “green eyed monster” colour your view.
If you want to find out what sort of man Michael Eavis really is then listen to the programme he was on from the archive of Desert Island Discs. In my opinion he is a good man with some principles in life many of us could do with emulating.

But how much is enough for some people?

Long story short, but 'Fred' has recently moved to Somerset with his wife's work.
They ended up at a local 'village event' and Fred couldn't understand how smart this village was, everywhere pristine and a fantastic Village Hall all brick and tile, not the usual wooden shack.
Then it clicked ... hiding in the corner minding his own business was a bald man with a white beard.

Most of the comments on here are irrelevant to the planning decision. And saying that permission should be granted because the applicant gives to charity or supports the local economy is akin to saying you should be able to "buy" consent.

JP1's comment that "he's asked for a dairy building on a separate piece of land" is the key. The difference between building a granny flat extension on your house or a new house 1/2 a mile away!

The way you post it sounds like you are an expert on planning.

Please then explain the whys and wherefores of how the planning permission system works with regards to all the houses that are bein g built / proposed to be built in the SW (and on good soil) bearing in mind all the extra occupants will need infrastucture ie somewhere to work ????????
A Key word there is work
Ie. production/ industry /local / viability /community ....(y)
