Well, he has resigned which I think was inevitable. I rather like him and think he has given good service, but I do question his wisdom in putting such remarks in writing - word of mouth, face to face with the PM / Foreign Secretary being more discrete.

I know that there has to be complete frankness between our diplomats and our Government but, in this day and age, it seems quite remarkable that such things were written - they are no more than 'diplomatic' time-bombs.

Given the fact the NSA and others are going to know this information one way or another .. it is inept to even create it.

If you have a diplomatic end then you gain that end through diplomacy, not a lack of it.

Interesting post on Conservative Home ..

It comes to something if private e mails are leaked out especially in the high office of our foreign office. Whoever did this wants lynching. Confidentiality seems to hold no value these days mores the pity. Not surprised at Donald’s reaction and even had a pop at TM for good measure. What’s the old saying “keep your friends close and your enemies even closer” you never know when DT is friend or foe.

Don't forget Trump has been under the thumb of the Steele Dossier for almost 3 years - also before that unbeknown to him.

An excuse which has cost him dearly in pursuit of his policies.

How close did that Steele dossier come to No. 10 ?

I am, quite honestly, astonished that you are surprised about this being leaked, particularly now.

DT is a good friend of the UK, and he could be a great one if handled intelligently. (y)

Maybe, but he won’t be President for ever. He can only serve 1 more term max. 4 years is a short time in history.

What makes you think Trump would be a good friend to the UK? There is little indication in his tweets as they are just as frequently hostile as they are friendly, seemingly reflecting his moods rather than his opinions.:scratchhead:
