Aches and pains

For a couple of years now I have suffered from stiffness and aches and pains in my neck and shoulders and down my left shoulder blade, I put it down to sitting twisted in the tractor looking over my right shoulder for years, anyone else who sits in a tractor suffer from this. It's not something I would take medication for as it's not that bad( took anti inflammatorys for a long time for my knee until I got that sorted don't want to again) it's just annoying more than anything ! Anyone any advice ?.

Stretch and yoga, do it at home and follow a YouTube video, if it’s really bad get a massage to get right again then start to stretch.
If not you may end up being the hunch back of Nostradam

I get similar symptoms all through my body and appear to be prone to developing myofascial trigger points. Long story short a lot of stretching but more importantly pressure on the sorest bit has really improved my general mobility in the last 12 months. I use dog toys (yes.. really) as they are hard enough and have a bit of rope attached for adjustment to put behind my back when I am sat for long periods driving, these can be moved to put pressure on the sore point = less twitchy muscles, bad backs, sore knees, neck pain, shoulder pain, arm/wrist pain, tinnitus, better sleep within a couple of weeks. Basically all due to use of a £3.99 dog toy and stretching.

A good chiropractor may be worth a visit.
I did my back in last year. I struggled to walk.
The first thing the chiropractor did was X ray me.
My spine was twisted/out of line to the right. I put it down to years of sitting in a tractor leaning over the controls to the right and trying to look over my shoulder.
It may not be that in your case but I’d start with an expert, not us lot guessing.

Ps I shooting pains down both legs. It’s just funny how you can get pain in areas that seem unreliable.
Hope you get sorted.

I see a Mctimoney chiropracter, does wonders for me. Also, certainly in our area I can self-refer for NHS physio, don't even need to go through GP. Simple phone call to get into the system, chat over the phone to a qualified physio and then exercises and a face to-face appointment. I've had a lot of probs with shoulder pain in the past, even a good sports masseuse couldn't sort it but the physio did.

Heads-up on Polymyalgia Rheumatica, exhibits joint/muscle stiffness after rest (as little as 20 mins). Buttocks, upper thigh, groin, shoulder. Sudden onset, you got to keep moving like a shark! Crane over the bed too. Upped the meds to Codeine Phosphate (becomes Morphine) just to cope. What did I do to deserve this? Atrophy, lethargy then apathy before destiny.

It's called getting older .

Posture is the key.

Slouching in a chair/sofa (or tractor seat) or leaning on things when stood up puts odd strain on muscles, tendons & ligaments, which then turns into aches & pains.

These aches & pains then encourage more slouching and awkward standing positions.

Being overweight also encourages slouching and exaggerates aches & pains.

I'm terrible for slouching :(

Now on a trial with Steroids (Prednisolone 15mg/day) with good results to confirm PMR and not fibro myalgia. Had some IBS with green poo due to stress and dis-ease or my body going into alarm mode for my bladder cancer. The auto-immune system is more clever than we think.

If you have a chronic issue that is causing pain which is possibly linked to ageing and which can't be completely sorted by other methods I have known more than a few people who swear by recreational drugs. I have never so much as abused a sachet of sherbert fizz in my life and I don't want to get into the whys and wherefores but that is what a fair few people seem to say.

Sore muscles from bad posture or tweeking your neck or back etc doing something a bit unusual or daft apparently is soothed by a good scotch!

Because you forget about everything once you're off your t!ts on Monkey Dust?

I can definitely vouch for this remedy (y)

I've had a bad back for a couple of weeks now but put it down to been on a tractor for to long for silage time as always triggers my syatica when I spend to long on tractors but after taking pain killers and back getting worse wife noticed a rash on my back so went to doctors to be told I have shingles.

Has anyone suffered from sore toes? The joints are not swollen, and the pains normally strike in the evening after removing my boots. Have it in both big toes, a stabbing sort of pain like you'd imagine if someone was trying to pull them from the foot. Doctors don't have a clue, but can be dammed painful at times.

Have the experts ruled out Gout? No joke, it is Uric acid (not Port) forming crystals in toe joints.

Knees and elbows always ache at the turn of weather and its killer at times and my hands will throb. I went to the chiropractor every week for my back and neck for six months, then every 2 weeks for the next then down to once a month. I tried sports physios, osteopaths and the chiro was the only one who worked. Improved my movement big time, if i dont go i will struggle to bend down and get my socks on first thing in the morning.
