The replacement for our 750a arrived today. Will run alongside the ULD converted CO6 tine option that is currently undergoing some changes.

Very impressed so far, very operator friendly and well thought out design. Lots of new options for cover and companion cropping with x 4 hoppers and a move to solid fert for seedbeds rather than the liquid systems we had o the 750a and CO6

Hope the 724 can pull it ok !

that's the 2nd hand value of 750 a drills dropping through the floor over night.... is the horsch going to be pimped at all ?

no pimping planned other than a small mod to how the pipe and electrical connections meet the tractor and addition of a rear flashing strobe as tractir strobe not visible from behind which is dangerous on dual carriageways

maybe a winter project to build a 12.25 toolbar with ULD VOS tines so we have tine or disc options .............

Power won’t be an issue but do you think she might need extra ballasting?

I know it's not ideal but you could put some wheel weights on if grip is a problem. Transformed my 724 and can fit and remove in about 40 minutes on my own.
I think your be fine but maybe slow on hilly ground.

probably yes - we will run with a front weight / toolbox and see how it goes but might add wheel weights if needed as well

Harvest starts on Monday (weather permitting of course) so we will have some ground to try it on with some cover crop seed

the drills is on michelin Xeobibs 2's - 520 / 38 which is the biggest you can fit - the axle is telescopic track width so extends out to much wider track when in work
tractor on 710 / 42 michelin

Interesting. Will you be moving to a 12/36m CTF system for drill/sprayer/combine now?

we have been on 12m CTF for 10 yrs now - was 12/24 until last year but now 12/36

drills have been 6m which fits in but now yes all will be "true" 12/36

CO tine drill and the carrier we use are still 6m however

just over 10k per m in ISO spec with a few options and the Michelins which with seed / fert / gutler style closers and 4 seed hoppers is pretty good value vs many other options these days I think

was ordered a while ago so exchange rates / Brexit / Boris may have already changed that !

Looks good. If the ground penetration is good then its a step forward from a 750 because it clearly looks so much more workable on and less pulling power than a 750. I expect for Euro conditions the ground penetration issue to be fine anyway. Almost looks like the sprayer!

yes - looking forward to getting a picture when its parked next to the sprayer !!

time will tell re penetration, it has similar coulter pressure to a 750 according to Horsch but we will see especially if it stays this hot and dry !

I think it will be absolutelty fine. There's a lot of bulls**t in the world of seed drilling, I talk a bit myself but at the end of the day once the little 5mm thing is in the ground the drills job is done

Not quite sure how that is good value, by that I mean it is a very expensive drill considering it has no cultivation elements, thus a one trick pony. Would imagine the depreciation will be huge, will be worth less than 60k in two years. Have looked at one before and don't see how it is better than a 750a, which it copies, other than and a nut and bolt to adjust depth which is a right pain. Do think combi, Fert drilling has its place but at what cost, when can be spun on ahead of planting, or liquid NPK through one of their excellent trailed sprayers.

Based on a recent quote a 6m 750a is 33% more expensive per m - doesn’t have fert, has one hopper not 4 etc

750a not the most expensive either - most others with fert are 15-20k per m and some like cross slot over 35k per m currently in NZ seed and fert spec !

I disagree on the fert, a decade of no till has taught me there are many situations where it makes a big difference. I would not own a no-till drill without ability to place fert with seed

That’s why I think it’s value - expensive yes of course but given it’s size and the area it will cover it’s value vs alternatives

Not that there are any alternatives really at this width - as far as I’m aware the Avatar is the only 12m disc no till drill sold in the uk right now ?

Both our 750’s have been low depreciation and cheap to run, I don’t see this being much different really though ? 2 yr old value is irrelevant, it will do 10yrs plus I hope and my establishment cost per acre are so low under zerotill they really are not worth worrying about
