Yep been there myself. Was always glad when I turned into the wind and could open the cab door. To let some fresh air in without dust.I remember baling straw in a 50 a field back in the 90s putting string on round bales so it was a slow job, no ac and it took some sticking on a hot day, the cab would get into the high 40,s.

Dad have a brand new JD 4230 in -73 with AC , I was 17 and it was lightyears in front of other tractors in comfort!
The first machines that I saw with air con were really designed for the other side of the Atlantic. MF 1505 artic and MF 760 combine. The new '79 MF 2680 also had it fitted but not sure if standard.
The Claas Dom that I drove in the early 80s was a late 70s machine fitted with the evaporative contraption. Better than nothing but not particularly healthy.

Not as bad as you would think, doors taken off and a breeze would flow through, they weren't exactly air tight anyway.

Would think be testing driving a tractor in height of summer no cab and sun beating down, sun and wind can be factor in getting burns,

Allis Chalmers were one of the first to offer it in the mid 60’s, also an option on JD 20 series in ‘69.
Factory fitted as standard on the MF1155 from ‘72.
A good few American automobile manufacturers had it listed as an option during the ‘60’s.

I remember the Massey combines in the seventies had a system where you filled a five gallon can with water, and it squirted it into the air as it left the fan, as a fine mist. Remember my physics at school, it was the 'latent heat of evaporation'
