Tractors and air con,

The first machines that I saw with air con were really designed for the other side of the Atlantic. MF 1505 artic and MF 760 combine. The new '79 MF 2680 also had it fitted but not sure if standard.
The Claas Dom that I drove in the early 80s was a late 70s machine fitted with the evaporative contraption. Better than nothing but not particularly healthy.
Yes was standard on a MF 2000 tractor in1978

I remember the Massey combines in the seventies had a system where you filled a five gallon can with water, and it squirted it into the air as it left the fan, as a fine mist. Remember my physics at school, it was the 'latent heat of evaporation'

we had

Had the same in a brand new MF525 and remember it not working that well! Cab let dust in , machine broke down daily but better than the cabless 304 it replaced !

Yep been there myself. Was always glad when I turned into the wind and could open the cab door. To let some fresh air in without dust.
I think round baling was the worst job without ac, stopping to put string on in the dust(n) that was one of the plus,s having the XL cabs, it would allow a bit of air in.;)

Cabs brought as many problems as they solved.

Poor view of the header. Constantly cleaning windows.
Greenhouse.
Weight.
Can't hear things breaking down.
Difficult to access controls and other parts for maintenance.

If I'm sat on my arse just steering then the heat doesn't really bother me. There are bigger things to worry about.

Beats me that people can't sit in a warm cab but can sit on a warm beach and will pay for the pleasure.
