Rampant pettiness, Juncker especially.

As a bureaucrat Junker has no remit, only the leaders of the 27 could put forward something like that.
And don't forget Priti Patel's comment about starving the Irish into submission or BoJo's "The Irish will shoot each other if there's a hard border or not"

So, should bureaucrats be saying this? -

“If it comes to a hard Brexit, that is in no one’s interest, but the British would be the big losers. They are acting as though that were not the case but it is,” Juncker told the Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper.

Strikes me as a political rather than neutral civil service type comment, in fact, should a bureaucrat be commenting at all?

What's wrong with that. He is just stating the situation as it is, even most normal minded Leavers don't see anything but harm to the UK in the event of no deal or similar. :scratchhead:

You've visited oradour sur glane?

What do you mean by that? You know that the Germans destroyed that town and killed all the inhabitants. Maybe that is why some folk don't want to be ruled from Berlin.

It was said several times that we would be punished if we dared leave the corrupt undemocratic EU, by Junkers and his cronies. I think they will give in about 5 minutes before midnight on October 31st.

It was the only “abandoned” village I could think of but as you say, “abandoned” is pushing it somewhat. We live about 20 miles from there so yes, we know what happened in June 1944.

Actually the French by and large have, “gotten over it” to build a better future. It has disappointed me that 51% of my fellow countryman are too small minded to be able to do the same. My reasons for moving weren’t just the weather and longer winter days.
Enjoy your November 1st party

To be honest the French have "gotten over it" a bit too much, they should be forever in our debt as should the Irish for the bailout a few years ago but those two seem to be worst for saying we should be made an example of.
As for the Nov 1st party, we'll still be forgiving enough to drink Champagne, you should follow our example rather than all the bitter divisive point scoring, you can't affect the outcome so chill out a bit.

Fortunately I am not sure just what example I should be following but I can’t think of any I would choose :scratchhead:
I am wondering if a few years on November the 1st and 5 will be merged into some kind of super celebration? At the time of year, I don’t actually see champagne being the drink of choice for the majority.

Your conspiracy theories are getting more ridiculous. Why would the EU want to destroy the UK economy? That is in no ones interest, least of all the EUs.
The UK is quite capable of destroying its own economy without any outside help.

Says the hypocrite living in New Zeland.

I'll just remind you here about all the posts you've made supporting your exports to the UK at the expense of the UK farmer.

Now reflect on your hypocritical comment about "Why would the EU want to destroy the UK economy" ?

Monopoly of supply is the gold standard of any company for obvious reasons .. god knows why I even have to say it .. you've even tried justifying your own products in exactly the same context.

WD is of course not telling the whole story in his claim, the EU does not want to destroy the UK's economy, if it can be coerced into remaining within the EU or subordinate to the Eu as per TM's 'deal'. (y)

I think Germany would be quite happy in destroying the UK's manufacturing base, I know they would see it as no loss.

France would be quite happy in destroying the UK's farming & food sectors .. as would Ireland.

This ideology has been helped IMHO with the fact HMG only has eyes for the City & Financial sectors .. promoting imports .. whilst using industrial loses as a means to reducing CO2 figures on a spreadsheet.

HMG has statred to get cold feet what the EU started with proposals for restaining the City & transaction taxes.

No I haven't as yet. However, I have toured your neck of the woods on the bike, well away from the beaten track, and there are many villages with boarded up properties as well as the occasional hamlet that appears to have no regular inhabitants at all. Towns such as Ussel are hardly thriving when you look closely while the eastern Dordogne region appeared to be less than economically buoyant. throughout.

This is true of most rural villages and towns in France. On a hot day or after about 5pm they all appear to be abandoned as everyone retreats behind shutters.
