To all those backing the removal of farm subsidies in the UK take a look across to whats happening in the republic of ireland, a bad year for beef prices and the government is giving them an extra support package ontop of the hefty subs they already have, £93 per head for fattners and £40ish/cow for suckler herds, they are our biggest competition for beef production with the majority of their beef flooding into the UK, produced in a much milder climate with superior grass growth AND much higher subsidies, should we just stop producing altogether and let the irish supply us? or support our own farmers, tell you what why dont the UK government double our subs and let us start undercutting them??
