I see the accused in court was denying everything.

Standard traveller MO.

It wasn't me
I was never there
I don't know what a quad bike is
I don't even know how to drive a car

It just beggars belief that they drag the poor guy down the road and only had one thing in their minds , make it back to camp and keep quiet.

We had been told by a local officer who had been told to get stuck into the local caravan club , and she has and good on her , that the gang that came up twice to our yard, thankfully the other half photoed them , don’t get blocking them in our they will ram you , seriously ?

They are classed as a minority group hence having sites given them etc , when are the powers that be going to wake up that per head of population facts show they make up the highest head of prison population , enough said.

Be interesting to see those figures. I know a policeman up at Oakham. Asked him the other day who’s doing all this crime and he said travellers are at the core of a lot of it either doing it themselves or through modern slavery

I will look for them ,someone might hopefully beat me to it by googling and copying onto here !

Not theft but on my cycle home from work one night I was knocked unconscious by a white van turning through an intersection and just left in the middle of the road. Customers in the pub on the corner heard the bang and came out to see it driving away. Luckily the front numberplate had come off and it was traced to a traveller camp.

Police attended, were mobbed when they tried to interview the registered keeper and had to leave sharpish.

They visited me in hospital and apologised.

Upshot - not even prosecuted for failing to stop even though Keeper admitted driving.

I had more lights on the bike than a christmas tree :(

If the keeper admitted driving it, and this was recorded by plod, then you should be pressing then to make charges. Otherwise they are just allowing a dangerous driver to remain on the road.

If you have some evidence to prove your story, you should be writing endless letters to your MP and get your face in every tabloid. If drivers can get pulled, fined and imprisoned for answering a mobile or doing 3mph over the limit without harming anyone, then the police should be pursuing the culprit to the end - even more so if they were "mobbed" at the camp. Driving without due care and attention, leaving the scene of an accident, threatening and intimidating behaviour.....

Every vehicle in our local camp has no Tax, MOT or insurance but when pointed out to the police they say it isn't a serious enough crime to pursue.:mad::mad::mad:

I would imagine given the point of this thread that if you were to point out your last paragraph to the police again and the implications it has if one of these vehicles are not taxed etc and involved in a serious incident they would be for the high jump , they might now do something.

We get enough jumped up clipboard warriors in farming hassling us, the least we should expect are plod to do their job. Maybe they felt "uncomfortable" or that the accused might be "upset" or some other rubbish.

I am part of a local rural crime network / farmwatch type group where we report suspicious activity and events. It is monitored by local police - members are now frowned upon if they report if a vehicle is untaxed, unmot'ed, uninsured or on stolen plates. Apparently not a crime worth investigating and should be left to the police. (to ignore...)

Surely if a vehicle is on stolen plates then not only is this an offence but it is most usually used in further crime , as for uninsured etc most drivers won’t even have a licence , most bizarre.

I would think if we all complain to police and crime commissioners about police not doing their job then perhaps they would act.
I would think that there is a case for discrimination if they won't pursue some for crime but not others.

A neighbour was burgled in daylight. Someone heard the alarm and spotted the culprits leaving with stolen goods. Got a car reg no as they left. Reported straight away and by chance the police caught them straight away. Two ran and another two caught. Stolen goods in the car. All the usual false plates, no mot, tax, insurance.
Police are not charging them due to lack of evidence!:scratchhead:
We are rapidly becoming a third world country with our pathetic justice system.
