Cubicle cow signals/improved dimensions lying times

With cows having been housed full time for a couple of weeks I'm finding myself watching cows more and am now thinking that too many go to cubicles and don't lie down quick enough. Never had tape measure this morning but took a few pictures. Looking for peoples opinions and thought it might be quite useful to try and get as close as possible to the ideal (sand I wish) cubicle dimensions. Medium sized hf here I'll add. Been considering moving or removing brisket pipe but a lot of work and worry cows will lie too far in then. Tia

I don't think their positioning is that bad, better than crapping on the beds. Could you try moving the neck rail and brisket board forward a bit on a few cubicles first to see what like it is.

Yeah that's my thinking, just moved the brisket rail on a short run about the width of itself. Pop in soon and see actually looked better straight away.

Quick measure up old heel to brisket was 66'' one I moved now nearer 71''. The height of the neck rail is 53'' off bed and the diagonal from kerb to neck is 80''.

so two years on, what did you do and how are they lying?
Had all the brisket boards out but have ended up putting them back in as breeding a smaller animal. Still not happy with lying times, positioning is fine if a little to far on beds. If I done it again I’d budget more for better mats and definitely be seriously considering plastic.

I’m replacing my pee poor poly pillows with a 6x3 timber, only done 60 so far and a bit early to say.

I’d say lying times are better in my newest beds purely because they have a thicker premium pad,30mm rather than 15mm.

Hi eulb,

looking for an update on your timber boards?
going to be ordering new mattresses in the coming weeks, wilsons are front runners just now but thinking the price of polypillows are quite steep! Have been thinking 6x3 will do the same job? Cows are coming out a shed built in the 60s before lunging space was invented!

What price are the mattresses/pillow per cubicle?
