More uncertainty, more delay.
If the saboteurs had a plan it wouldn't be so bad, but they have no plan as to how they are going to over ride the referendum and revoke article 50. They can't get that through parliament either so they have nothing to offer but sabotage of Boris's deal. They wreck every kind of pragmatic solution yet have no solution to offer themselves. Tells me everything I need to know about them, the DUP included who are sh!t scared they might actually have to make some decisions and govern NI without being able to blame Westminster. The DUP want the inpossible, but are too thick to see that. What solution do they offer? Absolutely nothing that won't lead to a hard border, yet they feel qualified to knock down realistic proposals that would have been a decent compromise.
What a fiasco.

Am resigned to there having to be a deal. Where I disagree with you is why does the
Most important and largest piece of legislation in our lifetimes only get 9 working days of Parliamentary time to be debated. That sir would have been a fiasco.

Quite encouraged really , fairly sure the meaningful vote will get through .

I agree. Given the amendment was jus5 to stop Boris pulling a fast one and crashing us out with ‘no deal’, I would be surprised if the current deal doesn’t go through. Several, including Letwin, have already said they’ll vote for it now they have that safeguard.

Time to debate it? What have they been doing then for the past 3 years? The deal is sealed with the EU and Eire. Parliament really thinks its a credible option to change it unilaterally yet again?

Its been thrashed out and done to death over 3 years in parliament. Its Mrs Mays deal with a few tweaks and improvements designed to satisfy the objections that were raised in parliament. Its already been agreed with the EU. Boris has already gained agreement from other heads of state that its an acceptable way forward. What more can parliament add to it unilaterally without the whole thing then having to be rediscussed with all the external parties to it. Parliament has had three years to make amendments and raise concerns. Boris has forged a deal with these concerns in mind. Surely parliament should know the deal inside out by now or have they not been paying attention. The time for debate is over. Parliament now needs to get on and approve the deal or come up with a means of revoking article 50 that will get through parliament. Not just airy fairy divided opinions but a concrete way forward with hard dates and milestones.

We have business decisions to make. I might buy some cattle on Thursday. I need to know whether there will be an export market for beef from 1st November or whether we will be facing imports under WTO.

From a farming viewpoint, all livestock wants selling before Dec 31 2020.After that, its planting trees, topping grass, and being general park keepers.Farming in this country as we know it will be finished! A small number of niche schemes might flourish;box meat, and kiosk milk, free range eggs, and veg sold at the farmhouse door etc.EDIT and sell some horse hay.

Why not? Rob says it’s no bother having a few Irish kill each other :scratchhead:
Where did I say it was ok for anyone to kill anyone ? What I said was we cant be held to ransome by some murdering thugs, do you think we should give in to ISIS or in years past any other group that hijacked planes etc etc

I know exactly what you meant Rob. And I agree. Both sides over there seem to squabble and sulk like badly behaved children. Won't even meet in their own parliament probably until a grown up gets them back round the table again. Pathetic. And they have had millions upon millions spent over there, like Scotland and Wales. Makes you wonder. Seems to be no helping either side when it comes down to it.

I’d love to know about the letter Boris is supposed to send. Perhaps he should forget to put a stamp on it!

Or put a 2nd class stamp on it, then post it with another letter saying he doesn’t want an extension despite any other letters they might receive to the contrary, but put a 1st class stamp on that one.

If it had been defeated, I don’t think parliamentary procedure allows it to be brought forward again, without alteration.

it has to altered slightly anyway now...but that is easily done......i'm so puzzled why the vote didn't go ahead i've asked the bbc :D:D

i know we've been here before but i reckon it'll be 'no confidence motion'....possible revocation article 59 if eu get dodgy about extension

boris will refuse to write letter....refuse to resign....nominate rees-mogg as pm......and they'll both be in the tower of london by next weekend:D:D
