Anybody had quotes for creep feed/beef nuts lately? 5 or 10t bulk loads. Price of corn is heading down to 2017 levels but no doubt it wont show in bought feed prices.
We're on an 18% barley top beef nut atm, at about £210/t for 5t loads blown. Was quoted £216/t for a 16% the other day from another firm. He was expecting another price drop in Sept, particularly for anything high cereal.

That’s their problem...if I tried to sell this years cattle at last years prices I’d be doing all right....better buying barley and protein and mixing it yourself
Wouldnt suit creep fed single suckled calves, it doesnt take make to upset them especially in this warm weather. Heard one big cake firm is wielding the axe, to many staff and not enough being sold.

Thats a reasonable price , there all telling me that there still using last years corn in the cake and asking £230+
You can bet they won’t have any of last years corn bought forward next year when the price has gone up.
I encountered this problem in the spring when my dairy cake went up at the same time as grain prices were falling, i enquired why and they said they still had stocks left over after low sales over winter. WHAT!!!!!!! I thought dairy farmers had fed heavier over the winter due to low forage stocks.
Ahhhh but beef and sheep boys had cut back so I was paying more..............not for long, I changed feed firm.?

THey are making a fair racket at that. I think feed mills try to take too much these days. You can feed double alkagrain treated barley for that price

been using some kibbled alkagrain wheat with straight barley at the moment + mins , and its finishing lambs well , so order will be well back if prices stay where they are .
