Telehandler height restrictor/lock out

We need to present a business case for a telehandler entering a shed but the one thing we have to prove is the overhead machinery won’t be damaged by it working in there.

I know you can have them on excavators but never seen it on telehandlers. Found a retro fitted kit but it’s something that can be turned off.

need something that will go back to full operation once out of the shed??

Any advice appreciated

So you need something that cannot be deactivated, but automatically limits the height in the shed? Going to be very hard to do - is there just one shed doorway?

it is currently 2 bays which trailers back into to be loaded but want to put concrete panels in and allow a telehandler to load out of the bay.

problem is that the overhead equipment needs to be protected and they don’t like the telehandler going inside and want to use conveyors

If it needs to be foolproof (ie automatically turns on when you enter the shed) it’s going to be pricey. May be cheaper to fit some big RSJs above the concrete panels to prevent the forklift hitting the bits above. Another option would be a loader and bucket with a permanent height limiter, and the telehandler separate - may still be cheaper than a fancy electronic system.

If you need electric have a word with Prolec as mentioned above, they may have a way of doing it.

we have put forward installing rsj’s as well but need something on the machine as a first option.

price isn’t an issue in this situation as it is w cost saving. Have emailed prolec to see if they can recommend anything

Our manitou had a sensor to switch the boom bounce off when above a certain height (something to do with hitting the roof when releasing bales). it was standard fitment on a 628lsu.

How about something as simple as a wire cord attached to the boom that when it is pulled tight pulls a switch that cuts off the boom lift solonoid which won't let the machine lift any higher. It won't stop any other boom control functions just the lift.

im not sure what system could be used but it won’t be a farm made job unfortunately. It has to be fully certified, serviced and passed off by HSE.

could you just put spacers / stroke restrictor in the lift ram so it can only lifts to a certain height ?

i say just , it means taking the ram apart and packing it with big washers or somthing like !
