Machine Servicing

We generally do, too much involved to service modern kit, and don’t have the time or need the hassle.

With kit under warranty they’ve got you by the balls as well. Just had our Manitous 500 hour service... it was over £900 inc vat!
900 plus vat! Bloody Nora... What was included in that price if you don't mind me asking

Gday chaps

Out of curiosity, who here pays for servicing from a dealer or 3rd party?

And, as its a delicate question, what are you paying? Loaders, tractors etc.

Tia

If it’s in warranty a dealer, but as soon as the warranty ends we halve the servicing costs using an independent. Our local mechanic (ex JD, CNH, JCB) are literally half the hourly rate but still have all the laptop software required.

Do you mind me asking what sort of prices your independent chap charges for what machines and what's included?

Tractors - oil/filter and greasing changes in house. Fixed by independent. Never really have them “properly” serviced.

Combine - APH appraisal and service annually. 90% issues fixed in season by independent but parts supplied by APH. Anything too technical done by APH or at a real push local dealer.

Going forward looking to do annual appraisal on combine, but probably service every other year.

Sounds a little steep that! Actually just noticed inc vat so not quite so bad.

I bought some (standard) HV46 six months ago. Three 25l drums for £93....so £31 each. I didn't know there was such a thing as "high grade".

That said, given they only used 10l it's not really fair to nitpik I guess.

I hate a service charge "amount " gives no indication of time spent or hourly rate.
Accountant does the same, I have asked for a breakdown of times and dates of engagement or other wise it could be jackanory time!

Hope if they didn't use full drums of oils, screenwash etc they left the remainder .
