When will it be safe to dip?

Hello TFF peoples - I'm looking for a little advice please.

Just as I was flushing the hill ewes for tupping, I noticed a few starting to itch that little too much to be nothing. All were given 40ml of ectofly with hope it was just lice, the problem hasn't gone away. Tups have been in since 9th Nov and they all seem settled.

When will be safe to put them through the dipper? No rush on movements etc as all stores, culls and fat lambs are away. Just don't want to cause any trouble by stressing them, few have picked there side out but nothing is throwing themselves at the fences with curled lips etc

All advice appreciated

You ought to be able to dip in January without upsetting them too much. Couple of years ago I had some ewes out on keep, came back late Jan. Didn't notice the man next door even had sheep (turned out his sheep had been happily infecting that parish for years) Started to itch early Feb. I dectomaxed everything and that was the end of it. i know it's dearer but faster, easier and less stressful all together

I used Crovect for lice and it didn't really work (correct application).

Used Dysect and it looks like I've finally cleared it up.

Gut tells me it's lice bothering you - they tend to start plooking the wool December/January. If it were scab you'd know about it, IMO
Did you think the crovect helped a bit or not? I used it and think it has helped a bit but maybe not 100% cleared them up.

It did make most ewes better but it didn't get rid of the lice. I've been dogged with lice for 3-4 years...

I sprayed all ewes with 20ml Dysect in August this year (10ml down their back, 10ml tail head) firstly for fly protection but so far it's looking like it's worked perfect. Wish I did that at the start for lice

I am in the same situation, have 24 store lambs, treated 3 times for scab but made no difference, used crovect for lice and thought it had worked but itching again now

Took this off iphone couple of years ago I assume it is lice not scab.

ll definitely know if it's scab. I've never had any luck treating life with pour on at all. All the feeding lambs get plunged and the ewes do too in early October. I always feel proper cruel plunging in mid winter and it's usually too bloody wet to do then effectively round here!

Thanks all for advice, looks like I’ll go for the dectomax and corvect option, I’m planning giving a Te drench & bolus so will just get everything at once. Always prefer to dip but just too wet here this time of year. Only 19 days and the handful of Xmas ewes will start lambing so need to focus on them preferably.

If you use dectomax i wouldnt have thought you need bother with crovect.

For cost verses potency.

Use Dysect instead of Crovect.
