make sure it's scab and not lice first ..... you probably have ,but saying just in case as I think ivermectin is no good for lice ..... I'm happy to be corrected !

Your biggest problem will be the 'scab' still being live in the shed for longer than the ivermectin will last ...... I think .
Like earlier I'm happy to be corrected .

Has the Vet confirmed it is Scab?
Far too many people are convinced they have a Scab problem when it is actually Lice, it is very cost effective to get the blood test done and 100% accurate.
Dectomax should work but in housed sheep I would use Cydectin LA which has a long active period and will last long enough for the mite to die off in the building.

Get a dozen or so blood samples tested to be CERTAIN is it scab.

Jab them twice 10 days apart. Use an automatic jabber and be certain you grab a finger of skin and they receive the proper dose.

This Scab problem for the sheep industry is going to take some controlling....markts in the South west nearly always have some sheep with scab...it spreads like wildfire ..I think many do not realise that...I know some one who bought a ram at Market...never bought any other sheep...now his sheep have scab

scab used to be here many many moons ago all the sale yards had dips think even the cops were there to make sure sheep were dipped

There used to be compulsory dipping here, with police (& later a ‘two minute timer man’) to enforce it. Scab was nearly eradicated, then compulsory dipping was stopped and here we are.... :(

It will never come back of course, as the government would open themselves up to claims for anyone made ill later in life, having been forced to use a nerve agent (OP dip) by them.

We had compulsory dipping her many moons ago, you sent in a card with the date you were dipping and an inspector came round and checked you actually had dipped. Once all the talk about OP dips got going I suppose they had to drop it. Sheep scab has exploded here since.

Do not use dectomax as scab mites in the shed will live longer than the cover on the ewes so they will get reinfected. You also need to keep an eye out for resistance to Cydectin. Your vet really should have covered this when they diagnosed scab.

Scab really isn’t a hard thing to get rid of, follow basic bio security and get them in the dip at the first sign of trouble. Unfortunately though there seems to be an awful lot of people completely ignorant to it and willing to let it spread through markets and their neighbours. No matter how on top of the job you are, if your neighbours aren’t the same then it’s only a matter of time.
