Hi all thinking of getting some wooden hurdles because the metal ones are just too dear now, anyone recommend a firm that makes well made not gonna fall apart type? We are in south Staffordshire but they can be shipped anywhere no doubt, thanks in advance

Make them for about a fiver with 3x1 treated.
Be aware that if you get that "colman's mustard" rotavirus type thing in the lambs, I think it is fairly likely to survive till next lambing on timber hurdles.

So have I, but have had problem with it two years running. Sheds pressure washed out, sanitised, and grain stored in interim. Concluded can only be on hurdles, rightly or wrongly?

We brought ours from a saw mill that sold them on eBay, 6' hurdles were £6 I think (3 years ago and just looked they have gone up, assuming it's the same seller) good hurdles and couldn't make them myself for that.

Depending on how many you want they might do a deal ?‍♂️

Yeah I have seen the same ones I think, from five to seven quid depending on size, sounds good value to me, I definitely couldn’t make them for that, not worth the hassle when you can buy them for that! Are they strong enough/stay together well made?

Not bust one yet, galvanised nails, (again assuming it's the same seller, certainly look the same)

You get good at tying string to hold them together though, keep meaning to fit some metal loops for pins...... but never enough time in the year ?

How about using pallets ? We use 4 ft by 3 ft pallets in conjunction with 6 ft hurdles to make blocks of pens, each pen is 6 by 4 adjacent to a walk way. Like a lot of things on this farm , red string is involved. These smaller pallets are around for free , or next to nothing.
