John Deere reducing dealerships

Exor own FIAT, Alpha Romeo, Ferrari, CNH Industrial etc etc, HQ'd in the Netherlands with majority shareholders being Italian.

Basildon has twice the capacity of Austria, you will find a lot of Case being assembled in Basildon too. Aren't any tractors nowadays just assembled in their given factory? Many will be buying from all over.

NH may be getting their parts from across Europe, but what's the alternative? Buy a tractor that doesn't get assembled in the UK or have any of its parts or workforce sourced from here?
The Case being assembled at Basildon are for the North American market, IIRC they don’t assemble Case there for any other countries including the Uk market which would have seemed logical.
Basildon assembles T6 and T7 NH’s any other ranges are assembled elsewhere, I presume they only assemble the corresponding Case models too but not sure on that.

Yes mostly ones destined for NA. T5 is assembled in Jesi, Italy and the T8 & T9 in America.

Take £45,000 as a round figure for the 1986 value then to keep up with general inflation the current equivalent is £93,000.

So considering that all the extra crap is fitted to today's tractor, about £7000 on top of inflation isn't all that surprising. What is actually surprising is that farmer's incomes are generally still only at around 1990 levels not even taking inflation into account. Actual 1990ish level in Pounds and Pence.
I sold 10 barren cows last month. Great big dairy cows that were fairly lean, but well fleshed. They averaged £350 each. Back in the 80's and 90's they would have fetched double that money and a barren and a calf would have bought a milking cow nearly. Today I have to sell five barrens to buy one cow.

You use a very different calculator to the one I always use.

EDIT
My apologies. It was me who used a different calculator to the one I usually use and despite me getting the year correct [but typing the wrong year], I've just used my usual calculator and it is very near yours. So please ignore my previous posts on this and I accept your figure to be correct. My previous figure is a load of rubbish but these things happen.
As a result I revise my opinion to agree with Guy. The approximately £35,000 extra discrepancy sounds to be difficult to justify.

local main dealer isnt doing any call outs so not sure what happens if your feeding tractor or loader breaks down, bet your local independant dealer would get you going again.

That is shocking for a dealer in predominantly livestock area. Know my local jd dealer rfs would get you outta the sh!t should it be needed over the festive period.

Another annoying thing is the 6920s would have done the same work as a 6155r yet it boosts to 195hp.

We are buying bigger tractors to do exactly the same jobs. Horses must be different to what they used to be.

15 years more abuse of the land is the reason for needing a155r over a 6920s. 20 years ago my friends were using a 6910 now they are up to 200hp same plough

15years ago I bet their 6910 had a nice efficient powershift box. I bet the new 200hp has a nice vario box that saps some horsepower.

But you have got to remember the bigger the dealership the more people they have to trade there second hand machine away getting more money for it than the small dealership who can not afford to keep it and has it under written by the trade buyers and in the bigger picture the farmers should get a better deal, we were in a dealership in Germany a few months ago that had 12 million of used stock in there yard and had a team of people that only sold second hand machine all over the world,

Dunno if thats all true mind. some of the implements have got bigger also justifying more of a Tractor upfront.
The weather hasnt helped us neither being less stable than it just seemed to be 20 odd years ago.
I know one thing 200+ HP makes all the diff here on a 5fr plough. Tractor just go's easy
