Found a drain!

We’ve found a drain that takes water from a ditch and don’t where it goes!
We’ve recently acquired some drainage maps for this land and although it’s plastic pipe its not shown.
There is a headwall 350m the other side of a main road that seems to be inline.
What’s best to put down to check it is same drain.
Amongst us we’ve had suggestions of food colouring to fairy liquid!
The headwall has old pipe emerging from it.

You get dye to put in the water, your local builders providers might have it. If not let me know and I might be able to find out a company or Rep that supplies it.

A tea spoon of 'Rothenberger dye', from the plumbers merchant, bright fluorescent green.

A mug full of dye (you might get away with less) which is available from most builders merchants. I've tried this and the colour of the dye never showed up despite predicting the correct outlet.

had trouble with a soak-a-way in a cottage, a neighbour was getting very worked up, council chap put it down our drain, nothing showed up, she was still ranting, so council put some down her drain...…… she never apologised, but she did moan about the cost of a new system !
slightly different, as we have had heavy rainfall this autumn, which has been giving us hassle with surface run-off, a small hole appeared in 1 field, taking a large amount of water, must be an old drain, can't see where it runs to, on an old hedge line, hedge went late 60's ? been regulary ploughed, but this is the first inclination of a drain, and it doesn't run to the nearest ditch ! When crop is cut in may, we will have to explore, is interesting though, and, with the rain we have had, very welcome !

My uncle's tractor fell in a large hole like that on the family farm in Devon. It turned out to be a neolithic (?) grain store. Apparently, they just used to dig a large hole for storing grain. The build up of carbon dioxide acted as a preservative. Sorry, that's all I know!
