My quad bike went walkies at midnight ish last night 5 masked and gloved men on CCTV cut through 2 locks on yard gates then as job was across one doorway climbed into upstairs granary to gain access to ground floor then cut another padlock off another inside door and manhandled the bike through a narrow door which only opens to 45 degrees then hot wired it and away with it we only heard it as they drove away
fitting Trackers is the only way you stand of finding it.
Local farmers had same issues on two occasions a couple of years ago & both times Bike was located just 40 miles away & when the Fuzz went knocking they found a few more Quads there also
its looking after the failed 2nd attempt they have got the message.
Hand on Heart a Tracker is your only way, apart from sleeping with the bloody things in your house !

If these characters would apply their unique talents to something honest, they would make a fortune.

I had a brief online conversation with one of them and apparently they think of it as a challenge and a sort of game.
How did you know the other party was what he claimed?

I've not been involved much with crim's up to this sort of thing, but have spent a lot of time with various domestic and commercial burglars. I don't think that most would regard what they do as a 'challenge'; they just want someone else's stuff for itself or to fence it for cash, that being for general use and / or drug purchases on about a 50/ 50 split. The quicker it was over with the better for them, and if they'd found a wallet with a lot of cash in it, they wouldn't have broken into anywhere until that money ran out.

All that written, I do remember a few who actually enjoyed what they did and got a sort of 'high' from it, and that is a thing common to a lot of shoplifters too.

If its any help for future quad i'll get info from the farmer on who he has his Tracker thru & costs ?? of just get his contact details & am sure he would happily have a crack about it.

Got a tracker on mine now after the previous one went walkies, got a cheap battery alarm called garage grenade on gate, pull pin out and it starts beeping, and a shotgun cartridge trip wire booby trap on the door.

Did not stop them taking ours. Found a couple of years later during a routine check at some garage/breakers, been stripped down for parts, but on 6th subsequent "owner" so they didnt do anything but wanted to charge us for storing it as it was still technically our vehicle. Left it as an insurance write off.
Haven't bothered replacing it. It would just go again.

No replacement was my take too, we duly had a 2nd vist about 8 weeks later, looking for the replacement machine...

Anyone got any recommendations for these trackers could do with one or two at our place.

We use these, get a text and call if bike moves with ignition off. Also can view exactly where the bike is at all times. Where it's been etc. Think was about £300 for the actual tracker and £99 per year for the subscription.

Leave it in the yard then film the thieves trying to start it........you never know they might fix it for you?

5 months ago I had thieves break into my workshop with an angle grinder. They couldn't take the bike as it was on axle stands with the rear axle off and in pieces. So they put the axle grinder through the ignition barrel out of spite.

I've a special dog sleeps in the workshop now.

That's the trouble though, 5 of them it would probably be your blood. You get hold of them you don't know who they are or where there from but they know you and where you live

Some of these fuks need reminding farmers have firearms and acres to bury bodies.

If the establishment won't/can't protect us then we must be allowed to protect ourselves, with lethal force of necessary.

Quad went missing by us last year, police found it Bulgaria with a load of others when they traced a gang back there! Nothing left at our place now you could walk off with, they’ve nicked it all, even came in the yard in broad day light an took the livestock trailer! You would be lucky to come in our yard an not see anyone but these people are opportunists, if they nick a trailer a week that’s there wages sorted! As said yesterday in tragic news thread, they want f**kin hanging on the side of the road for all to see!?
