Probably to early to comment but if your on aha agreement in England what are you expecting from the mustard corduroy wearing agents when the dust settles on the new ag bill ?

Simple, they'll take the highest paying options from the new scheme and say 'Thats what you should be earning, thats how much rent we want, plus a bit more for the highly profitable farming operations, naturally.'

This land agent thing is easy, where do I buy my yellow trousers?

The best we can say at the moment is somewhere between 'Free if you keep the place tidy' and 'Any reduction is unacceptable' so having to find extra to cover BPS reductions

Sure there are plenty of AHA's where the amount they pay in rent is lower than the amount they receive in BPS. Will be good to stop that gravy train

Why? It is not a gravy train if you are farming marginal grade 3 land with livestock!!

On a generational tenancy with a house where your rent is below the level of BPS, how is that not a situation in which someone can make money for very little effort? You could do nothing and have more in your pocket at the end of the month than if you did something

Yes but on most AHA tenancies you have to maintain the house and farm yourself and are liable for dilapidation. Yes you could do nothing but you won't get very fat on just the BPS as you still have to keep the land in good agricultural condition to keep getting the BPS.
