Essex contractor bankruptcy

I had a ‘situation’ a few years ago when owed around 18k. Was sent a cheque for £500 after 3 months, with the promise of the rest within 6 months. Cheque subsequently bounced!
About 3 weeks later, lounging on the sofa watching crap on the TV, about 10pm, phone rings.
Some ‘Agricultural Finance Company’ had taken over the running of this farming company, told me I was ‘a few places down the creditors list’, and offered me 11p in the pound!?

still better than the 5 c in the $ I got . . .
In situations like that, you never win

Someone once told me that anyone can get themselves into a muddle. It's how you get yourself out of it that matters.

I reminded him of his comment in a conversation about the very subject of this thread back in the summer.
I notice he's on the list of those owed money though, but not as much as we spoke about four months ago.

Mr F by any chance?
Thought that there would be a lot more farmers on the list.
Interestingly, no Fendt orJohn Deere in the sale? No mention of straw stacks anywhere by the administrator either??

Do farmers/contractors not use invoice factoring facilities to protect themselves from people going bust?
Factoring facilitates are not going to protect you from someone busy on you could even hinder you
It’s a expensive way to help with cash flow
Insurance will be the only way to take some risk out of the job

We are owed a fair bit by a farmer and trader contacted through the forum, did a deal for delayed payment and he has basically denied the existence of the agreement, currently going through the court.

How annoying it is when you trust a fellow farmer to act ‘in good faith’, what happened to ‘my word is my bond’.

That is really unfortunate. Sadly as the numbers of people increase on this planet, the number of liars, thieves, and all types of scum of the earth increase, does not bode well for the future of mankind (n)(n)(n)(n)

That’s very disappointing.
I should say everyone I’ve dealt with through the forum has been great.

Haha! No, it was a conversation about decency and integrity!
I've no doubt someone there's scheming a way to profit from the situation.

There's a lot of stuff missing off that list. I've not seen the beef side's accounts, so possibly there's some debts and assets in there.
I thought there was more than the two companies, but it was probably the name changes that I'm thinking of.

The only two people I trusted I have buried. People never fail to let you down.
